[edit] Contracting Players
So you have a team, now you just need quality individuals to fill your ranks before your triumphant march to Shockball immortality. You could do that clicking on the "contracts" menu item under "Team". You'll notice a "sign new contract" link. Fill the form correctly and wait for approvation.
[edit] Player Contracts:
The specific terms of a player contract is totally between the team owner and the respective player. Any terms such as salary amount, clauses (such as starter clause, % payrise each season, etc), length of contract (up to 3 seasons max) are totally up to the player/owner, unless they break one of the following rules.
[edit] Rules Concerning Contracts:
- A contract is valid ONLY if:
- it is made through the automated system;
- all the clauses are valid and follow the rules;
- the contract is signed for approval by the player;
- the contract is signed for approval by the League Marshal.
- A team salary cap is 4,000,000 (four million) credits. All salaries must be equal to or less than this figure for each season.
- The maximum length of a contract is to be 3 seasons. A contract can, however, be for any length less than 3 seasons (even some weeks).
- The minimum pay for a player is 100,000 (one hundred thousand) credits per season (even for some weeks).
- Every player must be paid; owner comprised, if playing.
- Only the clauses exposed on the contract are valid.
- The only implicit clause is: The Team owner could unilaterally break the contract in case the player goes inactive on CSL.
- A contract could be dissolved if both parties agree upon it.
[edit] Rules Breach
CSL take breaches of the rules very seriously. We have designed the game with set rules so that it is as fair and fun for everyone involved.
Now, from time to time an "accidental" breach of rules might take place, and this kind of breach are easily -- and immediately -- fixed. However, breaches that are not accidental but more likely an exploit are punished.
The League Marshal may or may not conduct periodic checks. However, the League Marshal cannot be deemed faulty if a breach of rules is not immediately spotted. Instead, the people involved in the breach of rules are held responsible from the moment the breach occurs.
[edit] Exceeding Players Count
The maximum number of players allowed in a team is 11 (eleven). For utilisation of 12 (or more) players on their roster, teams will be imposed the following:
- The team owner is fined 1 million credits, which must be sent to Kordath Stryder. All matches played before this fine is received will be counted as a forfeit regardless of the results.
- The last player(s) signed by the team will be returned to Free Agent Status.
- Any win gained while the total count of players is above 11 will be changed to a loss, and the win subsequentially awardered to their opponents.
If you have any questions about any of the rules please feel free to ask us, however please also note that rule violations will not be tolerated.
[edit] Transfers of Ownership
Transfers of ownership may occur for two main reasons:
- the current owner no longer wants to own the team;
- the current team is put under the CSL administration for non-compliance of the current ownership.
[edit] Case 1
The current owner who no longer wants to own the team has two options:
- He is not interested in or has not the time for managing it, but he still wants the team keep its name and location and doesn't want to make a profit out of it, transferring the team to the current manager or other player already in the roster;
- He wants to sell the team to an external buyer.
In the first case, the current owner must contact the CSL admins stating that - in case he dies or becomes inactive - he wants that a specific person takes over his team. At due time, CSL will contact the person specified by the current owner and - if that person is interested in taking the team - the transfer of ownership is carried out with the payment of a one-time fee of 40 (forty) million credits to CSL (sent to Nat`rhon L`uukh).
On the other hand, if the owner wants to sell his team, the new owner must pay a one-time fee of 40 (forty) million credits to CSL (sent to Nat`rhon L`uukh). This fee is not part of the sale price set by the current owner.
[edit] Case 2
When an owner shows no interest for his own team, CSL may revoke the ownership privileges of that franchise.
An overt lack of interest is shown if one or more of the following (but not limited to) cases occur:
- continuous non-compliance with minimum League requirements;
- consecutive matches forfeited;
- owner goes inactive for a period of more than 14 (fourteen) days without informing CSL of a leave of absence;
- owner leaves SWC and has not made provisions for his team prior, such as appointing a manager/coach previously.
The team will revert to CSL ownership and the CSL Council may take any measure deemed necessary, including but not limited to:
- management by a CSL appointed staff. The League will take care of the team needs: promote a manager, manage match setups, make contracts, etc.
- If the team will still be under CSL management at the end of the season, the League will pay the players' salary.
- The team owner could ask to have the team back in every moment, but this will be granted only under some circumstances to be determined by the League; comprised but not limited to the payment of a fine that will be added to the season pool.
- Should the League decide to sell the team, the CSL Council may or may not contact the former owner. If the former owner is not interested or does not agree to the terms of the sale, the team will be sold to the public. A minimum of three weeks must pass before the League shall put the team on auction on CPM. In this case, no 40-million registration will be required from the new owner as it is included in the sale price.
[edit] Validity of Contracts
As for the contracts still valid during the transfer of ownership, the CSL regulations are as follows:
- If the transfer takes place during mid-season, all current contracts on the sold team are automatically reverted to a 1 season deal and will expire at the end of the current season. The new owner and players may then negotiate a new contract if they so wish. Players must still abide by their current contracts and if, as usual, clauses are not met then the new owner has the right to terminate.
- If the transfer takes place between seasons, then all contracts made by the previous owner are void.
- Normally, contracts are signed to a team - not a person (the owner). If players wish so, they have the right sign a contract with a clause stating that if a team owner is changed then their contract is void immediately. However, this clause must be added in the contract BEFORE the contract is signed by owner and player.
[edit] Changing the Team Identity
A team can have the name or location changed during the pause between seasons.
- If an owner wants to change his team's location or name, he must pay a fee of 7.5 (seven point five) millions to CSL.
- If an owner wants to change both location and name at the same time, the fee for the league is still 7.5 (seven point five) millions.
Note:
- The rules above are intended for voluntary changes decided by team owners. They are not applied in case of decisions made by galactic authorities and involving the whole galaxy.
- The above fees are mainly intended to avoid excessive swappings and changings. All the credits will be added to the pool and participate to team shares at the end of the season.
