NOTE: FROM SEASON 4 ALL APPLICATIONS FOR NEW TEAMS ARE CLOSED

So you have decided to set up your own team. Good choice! Taking the step into the world of owning a team in the Colonial Shockball League can be exciting and profitable, but it also requires patience, perseverance and, above all, the ability to have fun. CSL teams are costly to operate but costs are far outweighed by the sheer enjoyment of players, owners and fans alike.

Before applying, there are some basic things to know:

  1. You should decide a good name for your team. Names are composed of two parts:
    • the name of your planet or system;
    • the name which characterizes your team.
      For example, Endor (System name) Supernovae (proper team name); Kiffex (planet name) Outlaws (proper team name).
  2. You should be willing to pay 15 (fifteen) million credits for team license fee (the initial subscription fee to the league).
    Owners will be required to pay 500,000 credits per season to renew their license. This means that your team will pay 15 million in the first season of play, and 500,000 in all subsequent seasons (this price could vary each season due to economic trends);
  3. Your team must have a minimum of 7 (seven) and a maximum of 11 (eleven) players. You can look for free agents in the market section of the CSL forums.
  4. You need a 4 (four) million budget for the season's wages of ALL your players. You cannot pay more than that, and you cannot pay less than 100,000 (one hundred thousand) credits per player per season. If you plan to give bonuses or benefits, these must be included in the 4-million cap.
  5. You must agree on building a Shockball Stadium, or have one already built, and assign Kordath Stryder as manager. The Stadium is 4x7, so plan your city development accordingly.
    Also, you must provide the data about the stadium (name, exact location, etc.) to fill the specific fields in your team page.
  6. You should have some artwork for team logo and banners. You need:
    • a logo (must be jpg, gif or png - must be 100x100 px - 40KB max);
    • the same logo, but in 70x70 size, 40KB max;
    • the same logo, but in 35x35 size, 40KB max;
    • a horizontal banner (468x60 pixels, must be jpg, gif or png - 40KB max);
    • the team owner's avatar (100x100 pixels, must be jpg, gif or png - 40KB max);
    • a mascot image (100x100 pixels). It is currently optional;
  7. You should provide some texts for your team, as follows:
    • Description: a text that will show on the team page;
    • Introduction: a text that will be used as "pre-registered" message to introduce your players during matches. (If no text is present, a standard one will be used.)
    • Nick: an official nickname for the team, if present it will be used during commentaries, etc;
    • Mascotte: name, image (see above), and description. If present they will be used during commentaries and on the main page.

      Please remember to stick to PG-13 rated texts, and use your common sense: no offenses, bad taste, etc. Otherwise the texts could be deleted without prior notice, and offenders will be fined.
  8. When you have everything ready, you can contact one of the admins, namely Kordath Stryder or Nat`rhon L`uukh.

What is in it for the teams?

Besides the fun, the teams are encouraged to search for team sponsors who can help out with the financial and/or other aspects of the team. Personal sponsorship is up to the individual team owners to source and negotiate.

The teams have the opportunity to win prize money and potentially other assets depending on their final standings in the competition.

All teams receive a percentage of the CSL's shared revenue. This shared revenue is made up from CSL sponsorship money received, gambling, team registration fees, etc.
